Institute of Political Science
The Institute of Political Science was established by Resolution No. 14 of the Presidium of the Slovak Academy of Sciences as the Institute of Politology of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, effective 1 February 1990. In compliance with Resolution No. 208 of the Presidium of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, effective 1 March 2002, the Institute was renamed the Institute of Political Science of the Slovak Academy of Sciences.
In accordance with the Founding Deed dated 28 March 2018 and Article 21a, Section 1 of Act No. 133/2002 Coll. on Slovak Academy of Sciences, the legal form of the Institute of Political Science of the Slovak Academy of Sciences, public research institution has been transformed from a state budget organisation into a public research institution, effective 1 July 2018.
The mission of the Institute of Political Science of SAS is basic research into political relations and processes within their internal and international political contexts. The Institute focuses on conducting studies in the area of international relations and political systems, the history of political thought, research methods of political science and recent political history.
The work of the team of internal and external researchers, in collaboration with both domestic and foreign institutions, aims at interdisciplinary and multidisciplinary research into political activities and their selected aspects, particularly their social, nationality, psycho-political and historical characteristics; such is also the nature of its synthesising outcomes.
